– Jean Behra fallece por una accidente una carrera de soporte del Gran Premio de Alemania en Avus al salir despedido de su coche al chocar con el asta de una bandera. Previamente, tras una discusión que llegó a las manos, con el director de equipo de la Scuderia Ferrari, fue despedido del equipo italiano.
